Advanced Learning Builds Character
Fatimah Zaharah bt Abdul Rahim (12)
When I persevere long enough, I can do difficult things.
My name is Fatimah Zaharah. I’m twelve years old and currently learning about Critical Writing in Kumon English. I find Kumon very helpful to my education at school. It really helped me a lot with my English such as grammar, vocabulary and composition. On the other hand, Kumon Mathematics is much more advanced than my school standard, I am sure it will help me more when I am in secondary school.
Mathematics is not my favourite subject, yet Kumon has helped me tremendously and I always score very well at school. In 2009, I received the Best Student award for the whole of primary. It is very important for me to study advance levels because I know, even though the level I’m studying now doesn’t seem to help me much with school work, it will help a great deal when I’m in secondary and that is more important.
To study high levels independently is really very challenging as they require me to think a lot more and much longer than I usually do. I’ve learnt that when I persevere long enough, I can do difficult things. Some of my Kumon English worksheets have had questions that even my father, a scholar from a respectable university in England, couldn’t answer!
Kumon also helped with my study habits. I became more disciplined and organised after enrolling in Kumon. One of my good habits is that I’ll complete all my Kumon worksheets independently before dinner.
I am happy to help others, and I enjoy helping friends whenever they need assistance.Sometimes I even help the teachers. So, even though I’m twelve, Kumon helps me to help others.
